Recovering After A Transport Accident
Transport injuries can affect your work, sleep, mobility and ability to complete normal activities.
Even when the accident is over, symptoms may continue to affect your neck, back, shoulders, lower limbs, physical capacity and confidence with movement.
Our practitioners take the time to understand your injuries, current limitations and personal goals before developing an individual care and rehabilitation plan.
Our focus is not simply reducing pain. We want to help you rebuild movement, physical capacity and independence.
How TAC Practitioners Can Help
- TAC physiotherapy
- Injury assessment, manual therapy, mobility rehabilitation, strengthening, functional exercise and return to activity planning.
- TAC osteopathy
- Hands-on care, joint and soft tissue techniques, mobility work, strengthening and movement retraining.
- TAC chiropractic
- Assessment of injuries affecting the spine, joints and muscles, with hands-on care, corrective exercise and self-management.
- Coordinated rehabilitation
- Care directed toward measurable functional goals and greater independence.
Transport Injuries We Commonly Manage
- Whiplash-associated disorders
- Neck, mid-back and lower-back pain
- Shoulder, hip and knee injuries
- Muscle strains and joint injuries
- Headache associated with neck injury
- Reduced mobility
- Post-surgical rehabilitation
- Physical deconditioning
- Pain affecting work or daily activities
TAC generally does not fund concurrent physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic for the same injury except in limited circumstances. We'll help identify the most appropriate discipline for your needs.
What TAC Funds
TAC may pay the reasonable cost of physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic required because of an eligible transport accident.
Care must be:
- Related to the transport accident
- Clinically appropriate
- Evidence-based
- Reasonable and necessary
- Focused on measurable outcomes
- Delivered by an appropriately registered provider
Within the first 90 days following an accident, eligible care may generally commence without prior approval.
Approval may be required when it has been approximately 90 days or more since the accident, it has been more than six months since TAC last funded care, further care is required beyond an approved period, or TAC requests more clinical information.
Your practitioner may need to complete an Allied Health Treatment and Recovery Plan to request further care.
