Your first visit

Here is what happens, so there are no surprises.

Before You Arrive

Booking
Book online, or call your studio if you would rather talk it through. WorkSafe, TAC, DVA and NDIS appointments need a call so we can set them up properly.
Bring
Any referrals, scans or claim paperwork you already have. If you do not have any, that is fine, you do not need a referral to see us.
Wear
Clothes you can move in. We will be looking at how you move, not just where it hurts.
Arrive
A few minutes early, so you can check in with our front desk and start on time.

What Happens In The Room

The same four steps, every first visit, in this order.

1

We listen

We want to understand what happened, how it is affecting your life and, most importantly, what you want to get back to. That is the part that shapes everything else.

2

We assess properly

We look at how you move, test your strength and function, and reproduce the movements that are giving you trouble. We show you what we are finding as we go, not at the end.

3

We explain it simply

We tell you what the problem is in plain language. No overcomplicated medical jargon and no fear around scans or diagnoses.

4

We map the plan

What we work on first, what you can do yourself, what you can keep doing, and what we progress over the coming weeks. If you want to run again, we work backwards from running and set the milestones to get there.

You Leave Knowing Three Things

1

What the problem is

Explained in plain language that is easy to understand.

2

What to start doing now

The one or two things that make a difference this week.

3

The roadmap

Milestones worked backwards from where you want to get to.

What Happens After

We will often spend the first three to four visits reducing your pain and getting you moving again, with a combination of soft tissue work, mobilisations and gentle movement.

Then we slowly move into strengthening. We help you reduce your pain and get moving again, but we do not stop there. We find the root cause, so when you leave it is far less likely to come back.

How many sessions you need depends on how long you have had the pain, how severe it is, how much it is affecting your life and what we find in the assessment. You will know the plan before you leave the room.
