Supporting Veterans To Move And Live With Confidence

Pain, injury and reduced mobility can interfere with the activities that matter most to you.

Our practitioners take the time to understand your health, current challenges and personal goals before developing an individual plan.

We can help you work toward reducing pain, improving mobility, rebuilding strength, improving balance, recovering after injury or surgery and maintaining independence.

Your care will be tailored to your clinical needs, abilities and DVA entitlements.

FAQs

Do I need a referral?

Yes. A valid referral is required before DVA-funded care begins. An initial referral may come from your GP, a medical consultant, a treating hospital doctor or a hospital discharge planner.

After the first cycle of care, further referrals are generally obtained from your usual GP.

How do DVA cycles of care work?

Most DVA physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic referrals operate under the Allied Health Treatment Cycle.

A standard cycle may cover up to 12 appointments or up to one year. The cycle finishes when either limit is reached. You may not require all 12 sessions. Your practitioner will recommend care based on clinical need and how you respond.

At the end of the cycle, your practitioner provides an end of cycle report, which is sent to your GP or referring practitioner. Your GP reviews your progress, and a new referral may be provided if further care is clinically necessary.

There is generally no lifetime limit on the number of cycles a GP may recommend. Special arrangements apply to some Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Gold Card holders receiving physiotherapy.

Can I receive physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic together?

A veteran may have cycles of care for different allied health services where clinically appropriate.

However, DVA does not ordinarily cover physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic for the same condition at the same time or on the same day.

Tell our team about any current or recent allied health care so we can confirm the most appropriate service and avoid conflicting care.

Is there an out of pocket cost?

For eligible care, participating DVA providers bill DVA directly. A Veteran Card holder should not be charged a gap for approved DVA services.

Please confirm your eligibility, referral and appointment arrangements with our team before care begins.
