Headache and migraine
Many headaches start in the neck. Stiff joints and tight muscles through the upper neck can send pain up into the back of the head, the temples and behind the eyes.
Migraine is a condition of its own, and its diagnosis and medication sit with your GP. Our part is the neck and upper back contributors that can sit alongside it, like stiffness, long desk days and poor sleep.

What We Look For
We take a careful history first: when the headaches come, where they sit, how long they last and what sets them off.
Then we look at how the upper neck and upper back move, and check for anything that needs to go back to your GP before we start.

How We Help
- Headaches
- Work aimed at fewer neck related headaches through the week.
- Movement
- More range through the upper neck and upper back.
- Desk days
- Changes to the set up and habits that keep the neck loaded.
- Understanding
- Knowing which headaches are coming from the neck and which are not.
Our Approach
1
Assessment
Your headache history and a physical examination of the neck, upper back and shoulders.
2
Spinal adjustments
Hands-on work through the joints of the upper neck and upper back to restore movement.
3
Corrective exercises
Loading for the deep neck and upper back muscles, built into your week.
How the plan usually runs
The first three to four visits are about reducing the pain and getting you moving again. From there we slowly move into strengthening, with the plan worked backwards from what you want to get back to.
